#1 Women's Hoops Downs Brooklyn at Home

Violets Win 91-46

Fourteen Violets scored four-or-more points as New York University's top-ranked women's basketball team defeated Brooklyn College, 91-46, on Tuesday night at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.

NYU improved to 9-0 on the season with the victory and have won all but one of its contests by double figures. Morgan Morrison was the lone Violet with double-digit points on the night, finishing with 10, while Erica Miller, Caroline Peper, Mary Kate Fahey, Honor Culpepper and Kelsey DuBois scored eight apiece.

The Violets never trailed, scoring the first seven points of the game and holding a comfortable, 24-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. NYU limited the Bulldogs to 28.6 percent shooting in the second, out-scoring them 26-16 in the frame to take a 50-24 advantage into the break.

In the first half the Violets forced nine turnovers, out-scored Brooklyn 30-10 in the paint and 15-0 in transition while all 10 of Morrison's points came before intermission.

Peper scored all eight of her points in the third quarter and, despite improved shooting from Brooklyn in the period, NYU maintained a 72-39 edge entering the fourth.

The Violets held the visitors to just seven points in the fourth as Culpepper scored all eight of her points in the frame on perfect shooting (3-of-3 FG, 2-of-2 3PT) along with five boards, two assists and a steal.

Megan Bauman posted seven points and five assists, Belle Pellecchia added seven points and five boards, and Olive Batch had six points, a rebound and a block.

Natalie Bruns finished with four points, eight boards, four assists, two steals and a block. Jordan Janowski chipped in four points, five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals.

Hanna Thrainsdottir, Reese Tremitiere and Eden Williamson also had four points each off the bench.

Next up for the Violets is a trip to Santa Cruz, CA, to take part in the UC Santa Cruz Tournament on Friday and Saturday, December 29 and 30. NYU opens the weekend against the host Banana Slugs at 5:00 PM Pacific (8:00 PM Eastern) on December 29.
