New York University's
second-ranked women's basketball team won 96-54 against Ramapo College on Sunday afternoon at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
The Violets improved to 6-0 on the year, picking up their third win by 20-or-more points thus far.
Morgan Morrison led the way with a team-high 17 points while
Natalie Bruns had 15,
Erica Miller scored 14 and
Mary Kate Fahey added 11 off the bench. NYU shot over 50 percent from the field (38-of-74) and 39.4 percent from distance (13-of-33) in the wire-to-wire victory.
The Violets scored the first 13 points of the game, holding Ramapo scoreless for the first 4:16 of the contest. NYU led 30-15 after the first quarter behind six points apiece from Morrison and
Jordan Janowski in the opening frame.
NYU grew its advantage to as much as 31 before halftime, maintaining a 57-30 edge at the break as Fahey came alive with eight points on perfect shooting in the second.
The Violets kept this pace in the second half, out-scoring Ramapo by 15 points across the final two quarters with 10 different players scoring in that span. NYU held the Roadrunners to 33.9 percent field-goal shooting (21-of-62) and 16.7 percent from deep (3-of-18) in the resounding victory.
Morrison added eight boards, a block and an assist to her 17 points while Bruns had five assists, four rebounds and a block in addition to her 15 points.
Belle Pellecchia contributed eight points, seven boards, seven assists and three steals in an all-around performance. Janowski finished with eight points, three assists and two steals.
NYU will play its second road game of the season on Sunday, December 3, at Connecticut College in New London, CT. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
