#2 Women's Hoops Moves to 4-0

Violets Defeat Colorado College 80-54

New York University's second-ranked women's basketball team led for the entire game in an 80-54 victory over Colorado College on Sunday at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.

The Violets remain undefeated at 4-0 on the season, out-scoring opponents 320-197 across those four outings.

Morgan Morrison and Natalie Bruns led the way for NYU, tying for the game high with 17 points apiece while Bruns filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, seven assists, four blocks and two steals.

The Violets opened the contest on a 9-0 run but Colorado came within two, 13-11, on a Zoe Tomlinson layup with 4:20 left in the first. But, NYU closed the quarter on a 14-3 run to take a 27-14 lead entering the second and didn't look back from there.

NYU out-scored the Tigers 15-11 in the second, with Morrison providing a third of those points, giving the hosts a 42-25 advantage at the half.

A huge third quarter, led by nine points on 4-of-4 shooting in the frame from Bruns, allowed the Violets to pull away even further as they carried a 70-36 lead into the fourth.

The Tigers won the fourth 18-10 but it was too little, too late as NYU secured their fourth consecutive win by 20-or-more points.

NYU shot 41.1 percent (30-of-73) from the field, 26.1 percent (6-of-23) from deep and 82.4 percent (14-of-17) at the line while holding Colorado to a 34.4 percent clip (21-of-61) from the floor and just 9.1 percent (1-of-11) from distance.

Belle Pellecchia added 10 points, nine assists, six boards, a steal and a block. Erica Miller had eight points and Kelsey DuBois chipped in seven and five rebounds off the bench.

Next up for the Violets is a home game against Whittier College on Wednesday, November 22, back at the Paulson Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00pm.
