Basketball (A League)
It was a very successful Intramural season for the Bangerz, who won the Spring 2022 A League Championship. The Bangerz finished the season with a perfect 8-0 record. In the playoffs, the Bangerz edged out The Color Violet in a closely contested game, winning 60-59. They followed that up with a 20-point victory over the Firebreathing Nighthawks in the semifinals. In the championship game, the Bangerz jumped out to a quick 24-6 lead in the first half against DFA. However, DFA fought back to cut the deficit to single digits. The Bangerz responded well to this comeback, and maintained the lead from start to finish, winning by a score of 51-42. The Bangerz were led by point guard Michael Min, who was the MVP of the championship game. All in all, it was a stellar season for the Bangerz, capping off a perfect regular season with a hard-fought championship victory.
Basketball (B League)
The Spring 2022 B league basketball tournament consisted of many close games over the course of the season. In the end, the Island Boys were able to come out on top, defeating Dior Defenders in the finals by a score of 62-51. The Island Boys finished the season with a 7-1 record, with their only loss being the first game of the season. The Island Boys carried their momentum with them into the playoffs, winning their first playoff game against RJ Barrett=Superstar by 21 points. Subsequently, they defeated BJDucks 61-48 in the semifinals, propelling them to the championship. In the finals, they defeated Dior Defenders 62-51. One major strength that propelled the Island Boys was their depth, as they had a roster of 14 players. Unselfish play, good ball movement, and communication played key roles in their championship season.
Co-Rec basketball
5 teams participated in the Spring 2022 Co-Rec basketball intramural league. NY Hoop Fam X Stern Hoops had an excellent season, winning the championship and finishing the season with a perfect 5-0 record. After winning by 41 and 44 points in their first two playoff games, they bested the Monarchs in the finals. The score of the championship was 62-31, as NY Hoop Fam X Stern Hoops continued their dominance in this game.
Flag Football
For Spring 2022 Intramural flag football, Right Foot Creep emerged as the champions. The regular season saw Right Foot Creep go undefeated, going 3-0. Their playoff push consisted of a closely contested 24-19 victory followed by a 37-24 win over The Money Team in the semifinals. In the championship game, Right Foot Creep dominated, winning decidedly by a score of 32-6 over the Fun Guys. This was the icing on the cake for a perfect season for Right Foot Creep, as they did not lose a single game over the course of the season.
Indoor Soccer
Borussia Munchinflapjacks emerged as the champion for the Spring 2022 Indoor Soccer tournament. After finishing the regular season 3-0, they won several playoff games to emerge as the top team in this tournament. After emphatically winning their first playoff game by a score of 9-1, they then edged out Field Day in a very close 9-7 game. In the semifinals, they defeated Inter NYU by a score of 9-2. After scoring 9 goals in each of their first three playoff games, they finished their season off with a convincing 8-4 victory over Bolivia Si Existe. It was a great season for the Borussia Munchinflapjacks, as their high-scoring ways led them to victory in each game they played.
Outdoor soccer (open)
In the Outdoor Soccer league for Spring 2022 Intramurals, Staines FC came out on top, winning the championship against Finley FC in a hard-fought 3-2 game. An excellent 3-0 regular season record gave this team momentum for the playoffs. In the playoffs, they
managed to defeat Chicken Fried Reus 4-1 before winning the finals. All in all, it was a perfect season for Staines FC, as they emerged as the victor in every single regular season and postseason game they played.
Indoor soccer (9v9)- Globall
NYU Club de Futbol was the 9V9 indoor soccer champion for the Spring 2022 intramural season. This team had great success all season, winning all 3 regular season games by at least two goals. During playoff action, they first defeated The Free Agents 4-2. In the final game, they came out victorious, besting NYU UNITED, 5-1. NYU Club de Futbol played excellent defense in the championship, only allowing one goal. This was a trend for them that was a significant reason for their success, as they never let up more than 2 goals in a single game.
Pickleball (Purple League)
L Lombardi had great success during the Spring 2022 Pickleball Purple League tournament, winning the championship by the score of 2-1 against A Samant. Lombardi triumphed very frequently during the regular season, finishing with a superb 4-1 record. He then defeated A Chen by a score of 2-0 before beating Samant in the finals.
Tennis
The champion of the Spring 2022 Intramural Tennis tournament was B Blumen. Blumen finished the season with a perfect 4-0 record. He was dominant in each of these matches, never dropping more than a set. Undeniably, Blumen had a masterful season, as he won convincingly in each match he played.
Co-Rec Volleyball- Competitive
The Co-Rec Volleyball league for the Spring 2022 intramural season was a major success for Jigsaw, as this team was the champion of the tournament. This team had a sterling record, going undefeated with an 8-0 record. In the playoffs, they started out with a 2-0 victory, and built on that strong performance with a 2-1 triumph over Phat Dumpy. In the finals, they emerged as the winner, beating Feeling Tipsy in a closely contested 2-1 match.
Co-Rec Volleyball- Recreational
The Falcon Dirhams emerged as the Champion of the Spring 2022 Co-Rec Recreational volleyball league. The Falcon Dirhams had a very strong 9-3 record for the season, and had great success in the playoffs. This team not only went 3-0 in the playoffs, including a 2-0 victory over team Latinos in the finals, but they did not drop a single set over the course of their playoff run. This capped off an immensely successful season for this team, as they dominated against strong competition in the playoffs after having a great regular season.
Badminton Singles
Rushi Shah came out victorious in the Badminton Singles league for Spring 2022 intramurals. Shah finished the season with a strong 4-0 record. In the playoffs, Shah continued to triumph. He defeated A Samant by a score of 2-0, and also beat A Ghildiyal 2-1. All in all, Shah had a lot of success this season, as he went undefeated during the regular season and playoffs and thus emerged as the champion.
Badminton Doubles
The Badminton doubles tournament for Spring 2022 intramurals was very competitive, and consisted of many close games. T Wang and A Dwarkani earned a hard-fought championship victory over H Wolf and J Liu, winning by a score of 2-0. Wang and Dwarkani were a dynamic duo throughout the entirety of the tournament, showing great chemistry. Both players played very hard and knew which spots to be in at all times, propelling them to victory.
Box Cricket
Cow Corner 7 was the championship team for the Spring 2022 Intramural box cricket league. Despite losing their first game of the season against the new "YORKERS" by a score of 70-39, this team showed resilience and battled their way to a championship. In the playoffs, they bested the Bombay Bangers 94-34 and then beat the NY strikers 64-40. They narrowly escaped a loss against XOR Gang in the semifinals, and subsequently beat the Balayya Lions by a score of 25-19 in the finals. This team showed that they had the ability to rebound from an early season loss, as they found their stride as the season progressed.
Soccer Tennis
Team Perros emerged as the champion for Spring 2022 intramural soccer tennis. This team went undefeated and demonstrated the ability to win in tightly contested games. For instance, they won 21-15 in two different contests. In the finals, they also won by a narrow margin, beating Kroos Kontrol by a score of 3-0.
Softball
Peak Electric was the champion of the Spring 2022 intramural softball tournament. This team had a very talented offense, scoring 10 or more runs in each game. They handled the Firebreathing Nighthawks 10-0, showcasing their pitching ability in addition to great hitting. They also bested Material Gurlzzz twice. They won the first game against this team by a score of 12-8, and the second by a score of 11-7.
