Brett Asay and
Jon Diaz represented NYU's men's track and field team at the Princeton Elite Invitational on Saturday, each delivering a personal best in their respective events.
Asay, a senior, ran his first sub-50 time in the 400 meters, completing the race in 49.66 seconds. This time ranks ninth in the University Athletic Association (UAA).
Diaz had an excellent race as well, setting a personal record in the 800 as he crossed the finish line in 1:51.72. His time ranks third in the UAA and 24th in all of Division III.
The top 20 times in the nation qualify for the NCAA Championships, putting Diaz right on the cusp of punching his ticket. The junior has two more chances to climb the list, first at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet tomorrow, May 16.
Both the men and women will travel to the campus of Widener University in Chester, PA, tomorrow afternoon with the meet beginning at 4 p.m.
The last event on the schedule is the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships on May 18-19, hosted by Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA.
