New York University's men's and women's track and field teams won four events in a strong showing at the Oscar Moore Invitational, hosted by Rowan University, on Saturday, March 26, in Glassboro, NJ.
Kristian Zadlo took first in the unseeded 100-meter dash for the men's lone event victory while
Nathalie Shoji (pole vault),
Ezri Scott (high jump) and
Isre'al Conerly (100m) were victorious for the women.
Men's Highlights
- Zadlo shined in his 100-meter debut, finishing the race in 11.53 seconds to secure first place in the unseeded field.
- Zion Glover ran a personal-best time in the 200-meter dash, placing 10th with a 23.25-second finish. He also finished third in the seeded 100m with a personal record of 10.95 seconds.
- Coleman Ruiz was also a top-10 finisher, taking 10th in the 3k with a personal-best time of 9:13.01.
- NYU's throwers performed well throughout the Invitational:
- Shot put: Michael Mangual (fourth, 13.60m), Owen Mountford (sixth, 13.35m) and Marc Santonocito (seventh, 13.14m) all had top-seven showings.
- Discus: Mountford placed fourth (44.43m) while Mangual (sixth, 42.50m), Viraj Gulati (12th, 37.70m) and Paul Ioffreda (21st, 33.26m) all set personal records.
- Hammer: Mountford (eighth, 40.86m) and Mangual (10th, 35.18m) both finished top-10 once again while Santonocito came in 14th (28.29m) in his hammer debut.
Women's Highlights
- Conerly, making her 100m debut, completed the race in 12.82 seconds to claim first place.
- Shoji set a personal record in pole vault (3.05m) en route to first.
- Scott leapt 1.49 meters to top the field in high jump.
- Ashley Lai (seventh, 2:36.15) and Jaylyn Wagner (eighth, 2:36.74) performed well for the Violets in the 800-meter.
- Conerly also finished third in the 200-meter dash (26.09) while Madi Richardson came in 10th (27.17).
- Michelle Uvieghara notched seventh place in discus with a personal-best toss of 29.87 meters. She also came in fifth in shot put, setting an outdoor personal best of 10.95m.
