The New York University men's and women's track & field teams completed the second and final day of the 2022 University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships on Sunday, February 27, hosted by Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.
NYU's men finished sixth as a team while the women placed seventh. Washington University in St. Louis took home the UAA title on both sides.
Men's Highlights:
- Owen Mountford, Marc Santonocito, and Michael Mangual all notched personal records in shot put. Their throws of 14.18m, 13.66m, and 13.50m finished third, fifth, and seventh, respectively.
- Zion Glover earned fifth place in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 7.12. He also ran in the 200m finals, finishing in 23.11 seconds.
- In the mile run, Jorge Rocha ran a personal best 4:26.57, good for 11th overall.
- Ryan Tobin came in sixth in the 3k with a time of 8:29.41. Rocha ran in the 3k as well, posting another personal record (9:26.63).
- Juan Ochoa placed sixth in the pole vault with a personal best 3.81-meter result.
- Oliver Fideler jumped into a fifth-place finish with a personal-best 12.85-meter leap in the triple jump.
- In the 4x400m relay, Daniel Devine, Brett Asay, Kristian Zadlo, and Zion Glover won their flight and earned fifth overall with a team-best time of 3:27.28.
Women's Highlights:
- Gabrielle Stankosh posted a personal-best time of 5:18.14 in the mile, finishing 11th overall.
- Leah Haley also ran a personal best in the mile (5:18.84), good for 12th place.
- Michelle Uvieghara earned fifth with a personal best 11.58-meter shot put throw.
- Kiera Gainer also threw for a new personal best in shot put (9.16m).
The Violets will be back in action at the NCAA DIII Atlantic Indoor Regionals on Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5, at Nazareth College in Pittsford, NY.
