The New York University men's soccer team fell 1-0 to University Athletic Association (UAA) foe Emory University on Sunday, October 30, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
NYU saw its three-game winning streak snapped and its record now sits at 8-7-2 overall and 2-4-0 in the UAA. Emory improved to 10-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in UAA play.
The game's lone goal came just before halftime when Eagle forward Moustafa Khattab fired an unassisted rocket across the box and past NYU goalkeeper
Lucas Doucette.
Khattab was the only Emory player who could solve Doucette, as the senior played one of the best games of his career to keep the Violets within striking distance. Doucette made 10 saves in the loss.
Offensively,
Petter Aasa and
Tristan Medios-Simon led the Violets with two shots each.
"I was real pleased with the way we came out in the second half," said NYU Head Coach
Kim Wyant. "We responded well to the challenge of being down to a good team. If we had started the game the way we played in the second half, I think we would've put ourselves in a better position to get the result we wanted."
The Violets will be back in action next Saturday when they close out the regular season at home against Brandeis University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30pm.
