The New York University men's basketball team dropped a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest to the University of Rochester 65-50 in Rochester, NY, on Friday, January 25. The undefeated Yellowjackets (17-0, 6-0) entered the game ranked #2 by D3hoops.com and proved too much for the Violets (12-5, 2-4).
Rochester jumped out to a 35-19 halftime lead, but NYU was able to cut its deficit to eight using a 7-0 run over the first five minutes of the second half. However, the Violet offense was unable to break through, and Rochester controlled the pace the rest of the way, with their lead expanding to as much as 20 points.

- NYU had a strong defensive outing despite the loss, holding a potent Rochester offense which averages over 80 points per game to just 65.

The Violets return to the court on Sunday, January 27, when they face University Emory in Atlanta, GA. Tip-off is set for 12:00 pm.
