The New York University women's basketball team dropped a 74-45 decision to Washington University in a University Athletic Association (UAA) game on Friday, January 18, in St. Louis, MO.

The Bears (13-2, 3-1), ranked #7 in the latest D3hoops.com poll, scored the first six points of the game and never trailed. The Violets (8-7, 1-3) registered the next five points, but that was as close as they got the rest of the way.

Washington was held to 37.5% shooting from the field (24-64), but NYU could only manage 28% (14-50).

Highlights:

- Cassidy Jourdan led NYU with 12 points, connecting on the team's only two three-pointers of the game.

- Alexis Doherty tallied a season-high seven points.

- Melissa Peng tied a career high with six rebounds. She added a team-best three assists.

- Nicole Lem led the team with seven rebounds and also contributed seven points.

- Four Washington players scored in double figures, led by Jordan Thompson's 12.

"I thought the effort was there," Head Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory said.  "But, we still need to work on our maturity and taking care of the ball."

The Violets committed 15 turnovers, while recording only eight assists.

NYU's two-game midwest road trip continues on Sunday, January 20, when the Violets face the University of Chicago. Tip-off in the Windy City is scheduled for 2:00pm Central Standard Time.
