After taking six days off, the New York University men's basketball team returns to the hardwood of the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center when it hosts SUNY Old Westbury this Sunday at 2 p.m. NYU will provide both live stats and a live audio broadcast.
In their last outing, the Violets improved to 2-1 with a 54-49 triumph over Elmira College in the third-place game of the NYU Tip-Off Tournament. Keith Jensen, NYU's leading scorer at 15.0 points per game, scored 12 first-half points and earned a spot on the All-Tip-Off Tournament Team.
Also making favorable early impressions for NYU are rookie forward Carl Yaffe (10.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 2.0 spg, 52.4 FG%), as well as the backcourt of Derek Becker (9.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.7 spg, 2.3 apg, 54.5 FG%) and Omar Meziab (8.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.7 apg).
Old Westbury won its lone game thus far, getting six double-digit scoring performances in an 85-78 victory over York College (NY) on Nov. 18. Hakiem George led the way with 19 points.
