Phebe Miller, of the New York University women's soccer team (10-4-1, 2-1-1) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, October 27.
The senior co-captain led a Violets' backline that did not allow a shot on goal during
NYU's 1-0 victory over St. Joseph's College (Long Island) on Tuesday, October 21, in Patchogue, NY.
Miller has started all 15 of the Violets' contests this year, anchoring a defensive unit that has allowed just 3.2 shots on goal per game.
This is the second-ever weekly award for the Mill Valley, CA, native,
who was named Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week on October 1.
Miller and the rest of the Violets will be back in action this weekend, when they continue UAA play on the road against the University of Chicago and Washington University. NYU will play Chicago on Friday at 6:00 pm (CST) before traveling to St. Louis to square off against Washington on Sunday at 1:30 pm (CST).
