Baseball Defeated by UChicago to Kick Off Series

NYU Held to Just One Run in Loss

The New York University Violets (11-17, 5-12) and the University of Chicago Maroons (20-13, 12-5) kicked off the first game of a four-game series on Friday, April 24, at the J. Kyle Anderson Field in Chicago, Illinois.

NYU led early but Chicago's defense dominated to help defeat the Violets 8-1.

NYU scored the game's first run thanks to an RBI single by CJ Franchini, but Chicago quickly took the lead in the bottom half of the first inning scoring four runs.

The Violets' offense went quiet after their early run, but Tyler Tedeschi was solid on the mound, silencing the Maroons' offense for the next few innings to keep NYU in the game. The senior held Chicago to just one hit from the second inning to the fourth inning.

Leading NYU 4-1, Chicago scored a total of four runs in the final five innings to extend their lead and close the games scoring.

Notable Stats:
  • Franchini extended his hit streak to 15 games (streak began 3/28/26 against Emory University)
  • Tedeschi pitched five and two-thirds innings & recorded eight strikeouts (both career highs)
