Softball Drops A Pair to Carnegie Mellon

Violets Fall to Tartans

The New York University softball team wrapped up its weekend series with a doubleheader against Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, April 18, in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Violets fell in both games, 13-4 in the first and 17-0 in the second.

Carnegie Mellon opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning of the first game scoring two runs.

The Violets pulled ahead, 3-2, in the third inning when Sarah Huang scored a run before Nicole Cicchetti singled to center field, bringing Naya Schubel and Victoria Negron home.

The Tartans scored 12 unanswered over the next two innings before the Violets got one back.

In game two, the Tartans scored 11 runs in the first inning and did not look back.

Huang doubled in the top of the fifth, but that was the only Violets to reach second base.

Huang and Schubel were the only Violets to collect a hit in both games.

The Violets will travel to Farmingdale State College for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 22. The first game is set for 3:30pm.
