The New York University women's tennis team downed The College of New Jersey 7–0 on Sunday, April 12, in Ewing, NJ.
In doubles play, the Violets swept all three matches to secure the doubles point.
At No. 1, the duo of Visnja Gusavac and Sophia Yang won with a 6–3 score. The No. 2 duo of Emma Kast and Victoria Wang earned a 6–1 victory, while the No. 3 pair of Norah Staunton and Sophia Wright captured a 6–3 win.
NYU maintained its lead by winning all six singles matches.
At No. 1, Gusavac won with a score of 6–3, 6–2. Wang followed with a 6–3, 6–3 victory at No. 2. At No. 3, Yang earned a 6–1, 6–2 win. Vera Bondarenko also won her match with a 6–2, 6–1 score at No. 4, while at No. 5, Siona Vallabhaneni secured her match with a 6–1, 6–1 victory. At No. 6, Noelle Faber earned a 6–0, 7–5 win to complete the shutout victory.
"The women played competitively from the beginning, keeping their focus and intensity throughout the match," said Assistant Coach Ron Moreno."This allowed them stay in lead the whole way through."
The Violets return to action on Saturday, April 18, when they host Brandeis University on Senior Day in the Bronx, NY.
