New York University's baseball team (8-12, 2-7) played the first game of a four-game series against the Brandeis University Judges (13-10, 5-4) on Friday, April 10, in Waltham, MA.
Despite NYU's response to Brandeis' early lead, the Judges defeated the Violets by a score of 10-4 to take a 1-0 series lead.
The Violets trailed 4-0 after one inning, but got back in the game by scoring four runs in the third.
Harrison Blueweiss and
CJ Franchini both had an RBI single in the inning to help NYU tie the game at four.
The Judges scored a combined four runs from the bottom half of the third to the sixth to hold an 8-4 lead through six innings.
NYU, trailing 10-4 after seven, went scoreless in the final two innings to close out the UAA contest.
Notable Stats:
- Franchini's hit streak is now at nine games
- NYU scored four runs on one of the the UAA's best pitchers, Dimitri Skourides (currently second in ERA)
- Blueweiss, who is top 10 in On Base Percentage in the UAA, was one of three Violets to record a hit against Brandeis
