The New York University softball team played a pair of games at the Margie Knight Classic, hosted by Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD, on Saturday, March 14.
In the first game, the Violets fell to SUNY New Paltz 8-4.
The Hawks scored the first seven runs of the game before NYU got on the board in the top of the fifth, when
Naya Schubel crossed the plate.
The Violets began to rally in the top of the seventh when
Emma Sung knocked in
Katie Antosiewicz with an RBI single.
Siena Kiefer then brought home
Emily Barbire to keep the line moving.
However, NYU was able to score just one more run and fell, 8-4.
NYU dropped the second game to Manhattanville University, 10-2.
The Violets jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, but the Valiants scored six straight runs and did not look back.
After
Sarah Huang singled home Schubel in the top of the fifth, Manhattanville scored four more runs to win in six innings.
Schubel finished the day batting 3-for-5 with three runs scored.
The Violets returns to play another doubleheader tomorrow. They face Manhattanville again and then Randolph-Macon University beginning at 11:00am.
