The New York University softball team played a pair of games at the Margie Knight Classic, hosted by Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD, on Friday, March 13.
In an opening-game slug fest, the Violets out-lasted King's College 15-14.
NYU drooped the second game to Stockton University 9-0.
Alyssa Quary had four hits and scored four runs in the opener, helping the Violets to an early lead.
NYU led 14-2, but King's mounted a huge comeback with seven runs in the fifth.
But, when they rallied again in the bottom of the seventh,
Monique Kamrowski came on to pick up a save by getting the final two outs and preserving the victory.
Victoria Katilius had three hits and scored four runs.
Katie Antosiewicz knocked in four runs and
Naya Schubel added three RBI's in the victory.
The Violets did not fare as well in the nitecap, failing to score over the five innings.
Carly Nelson and
Emma Sung had the only two hits for the Violets.
The Violets will play another doubleheader on Saturday, facing SUNY New Paltz at 11:00am and Manhattanville University at 3:30pm.
