The New York University men's soccer team fell to Stockton University 2-1 on Monday, September 8, at Lubetkin Field in Newark, NJ.
The game was highlighted by a total of nine cards between the two teams, including one red card each for both squads.
Just under 19 minutes into the first half, the Ospreys scored the first goal of the match on a shot into low right corner.
Vic Williams was given a red card on the bench in the 41st minute.
However, less than two minutes in the second half,
Felix Dyckerhoff put away a loose ball in front of the Stockton goalkeeper into the back of the net to even the score.
With 21 minutes remaining in the contest, a one-time shot by the Ospreys' Chris Krall got past
Ludvig Hilberts, which proved to be the game-winning goal.
In the 87th minute, a red card against Stockton gave the Violets a one-man advantage. However, NYU was unable to convert, as it took just one shot in the final three minutes.
Making his second career start, Hilberts made four saves in net.
The Violets return to action on Sunday, September 14, with a home match at Lubetkin Field against Misericordia University. Kickoff is set for 12:30pm.
