Men's Soccer Fit to be Tied

Violets Play 0-0 Draw at Drew

The New York University men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with Drew University on Saturday, September 20, in Madison, NJ.

Neither the Violets (1-3-1) nor the Rangers (4-1-1) could push across a goal as both sides played good defense all match.

"I was thoroughly impressed with our back four defending and in our goalkeeping," said Head Coach Kim Wyant. "Despite not getting a the goal that we needed, we posted a shutout so we can take a lot of positives from this.".

NYU had six shots in the first half and ended with 13 total shots, with three on target. Ethan Zarka forced a save from the Rangers' goalkeeper in the eighth minute, and both Wilhelm Frisell in the 54th minute and Terra Nagai  in the 68th minute did as well.

Drew managed 16 shots, with 11 coming in the second half. The Rangers finished with four shots on target, forcing goalkeeper Jackson McCloskey into action.

Drew led the game in corner kicks (5-2).

The Violets return to action on Wednesday, September 24, when they travel to Montclair State University. Kickoff in Montclair, NJ, is set for 7:00pm.
