The New York University women's soccer team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology 1-0 on Wednesday, September 10, in Hoboken, NJ.
Both teams took four shots in the first half, with three shots on goal for the Violets and two for the Ducks.
Four minutes into the match,
Annabelle Booker was given a yellow card. Five minutes later, Stevens's Lauren Alley was given a yellow as well.
With less than two minutes until halftime, NYU was awarded a corner kick.
Yukino Wakatsuki delivered an in-swinging ball into the box, which
Elizabeth Argenziano got her head on and put into the back of the net for the lead.
The Violets' defense stifled Stevens for the entirety of the second half, as they allowed just one shot by the hosts. Offensively, NYU kept the pressure on with three more shots on goal.
Mia Capo saved all three shots she saw on the night for her second consecutive shutout. Nine different Violets took a shot in the match, including three by Wakatsuki.
The Violets will next face William Paterson University at home on Wednesday, September 17, at Lubetkin Field in Newark, NJ. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
