The New York University softball team began its final road University Athletic Association (UAA) series of the season on Friday, April 25, against Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
The Violets were shutout in an 8-0 loss.
The Eagles scored a run in the bottom of the first inning following a pair of extra-base hits.
Though NYU had runners on second and third with one out in the top of the second, the Violets failed to score in the frame.
In the bottom of the second, Emory brought 10 batters to the plate and scored six runs to go up 7-0.
With just three more batters reaching base safely for the Violets for the remainder of the game, the Eagles knocked in an eighth run in the bottom of the sixth to put the run rule into effect.
Naya Schubel went 1-for-2 at the plate for NYU with a hit and a walk.
NYU will close out its series against Emory tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 12pm.
