The New York University baseball team wrapped up its four-game series against Case Western Reserve University with a 7–3 loss on Sunday in Cleveland, OH.
The Violets fell behind 3–0 after the first inning and were held scoreless in the first three frames.
With runners on the corners and one out in the top of the fourth, NYU got on the board when Connor Roggero came around to score on a throwing error, cutting the deficit to two. However, the Spartans responded with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
After an RBI ground out by Nate Pallotta brought in a second run in the top of the fifth, Cam Dunn added on with an RBI double in the seventh inning.
Just two more Violets managed to reach base safely for the remainder of the game, as NYU was unable to close the gap.
Dhruv Vengurlekar, Cooper Paule, and Aidan Dolinsky combined for four hitless innings out of the bullpen.
Pallotta batted 2-for-4 with an RBI on the day.
NYU will look to bounce back on Friday, April 25, when they travel to face the University of Chicago for the start of a four-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT.
