Baseball Barrage Leads to Sunday Victory

Violets' Offense Explodes in 16-5 Win Over Colby

The New York University baseball team continued its Florida Spring Break schedule with a 16-5 win over Colby College on Sunday, March 23, in Auburndale, FL.

The Violets have won all three of their Florida games thus far and are 11-5 this season.

The game was scoreless until NYU scored three runs in the top of third inning. Harrison Blueweiss and Cam Dunn knocked in two of the runs, with the other coming in on an error.

Each team scored a run in the fourth, NYU's on a sacrifice fly from Nick Argenziano.

The Violets went up 7-1 with three more runs in the fifth, including a home run from Kosta Mocklis.

NYU blew it open with a six-run seventh inning highlighted by a two-run double from CJ Francini and a two-RBI single by Nate Pallotta.

Colby College scored a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to make it 13-5.

In the ninth inning, Michael Burton Jr. doubled to left field, driving in two runs, and Aidan Howladar grounded out to second, bringing in another run to push the lead to 16-5.

Cooper Paule got the win in relief, pitching two scoreless innings after Jonathan Hyman went the first four.

The Violets play their final Florida game tomorrow, when they host Purchase College at Steinnbrenner Field in Tampa. First pitch is set for 4:00pm.
