The New York University baseball team secured its second win of the season with an 11-4 victory over Dominican University (IL) on Sunday, February 23, in Conway, AR.
NYU took the lead in the third inning and never looked back, fueled by
Nick Argenziano's two home runs and five RBIs.
Dominican opened the scoring with a run in the first inning. NYU responded in the second on
Aidan Howladar's RBI ground out which allowed
Max Oliveira to score the tying run.
After the Stars re-took the lead in the bottom of the second, the Violets scored two runs in the third and took the lead for good on
Nick Argenziano's two-run home run.
Argenziano struck again in the fifth, blasting another two-run shot after
Harrison Blueweiss singled.
Kosta Mocklis followed with a solo home run, extending the lead to 6-2.
The Violets added two insurance runs in the seventh on Mocklis' RBI single and
Nate Pallotta's RBI double.
NYU scored its final three runs in the ninth inning on Pallotta's two-run homer and Howladar's single.
Argenziano led the offense, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBIs, and four runs scored. Pallotta added a homer, a double, and four RBIs, while Mocklis contributed three hits, including a home run and two RBIs.
Antonio Turco-Rivas picked up his first collegiate victory, going five innings, allowing two runs, and striking out seven.
The Violets will travel to Kean University in Union, NY, on Friday, February 29. First pitch is set for 3pm.
