Women's Basketball Rolls Past Emory for Road Victory

Violets Shut down Eagles to Extend Win Streak

The top-ranked New York University women's basketball team continued its dominant season with a 67-40 victory over Emory University on Friday, February 14, in Atlanta, GA. The Violets maintained their perfect record and extended their lead atop the University Athletic Association (UAA) standings.

NYU set the tempo early with its suffocating defense, holding Emory to just eight points in the first quarter.

Despite a slow offensive start, the Violets broke the game open in the second quarter with a 19-point outburst, heading into halftime with a 32-16 lead.

Emory attempted to cut into the lead in the third quarter, but NYU's defense remained relentless. The Eagles shot just 30.4% from the field and 0-for-11 from three on the night. Meanwhile, the Violets controlled the boards, out rebounding Emory 38-33 and forcing 21 turnovers.

NYU's largest lead of the game came in the final minutes, reaching 27 points, as the team cruised to another impressive win.

Natalie Bruns led the charge, scoring 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting, while also contributing five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block. Jamie Behar added 10 points and seven boards, while Caroline Peper registered nine points and three boards.

The Violets will continue their road trip on Sunday, February 16, when they take on the University of Rochester at 12:00 p.m. in Rochester, NY.
