Men’s Basketball Cruises to Win Over George Fox

Violets Remain Undefeated With Victory Over Bruins

The New York University men's basketball team finished its West Coast road trip with a 105-69 win over George Fox University on Saturday, November 29, in Thousand Oaks, CA.

The team amassed 35 assists on the night, which surpassed the program's previous single-game record of 34.

A game in which the Violets never trailed, NYU jumped out to a 20-5 lead within the first eight minutes of the contest. In that span, the Violets knocked down four three-pointers and Darren Rubin accounted for 10 points. Three minutes later, NYU opened up a 21-point advantage, 29-8.

At the five-minute mark of the first half, the Bruins managed to cut the deficit to 37-23, but it was the closest George Fox got for the remainder of the night. At the break, the Violets led 52-33.

Up 62-43 just over three minutes into the second half, NYU put the game out of reach with a 16-2 run. Bryan Moussako contributed a pair of shots from beyond the arc and eight points in the run. The Violets' lead remained above 27 for the rest of the game and reached as high as 36.

Four players entered double-digits in scoring, led by Rubin with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field and 4-of-10 from the three-point line. Carnegie Johnson stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, six assists, three rebounds, and two steals.

As a team, NYU shot 17-of-35 from deep, good for a season-high.

The Violets will next face Yeshiva University on the road on Wednesday, December 3, at 8pm in New York, NY.
