Women's Basketball Erupts For 76-Point Win

Violets Register Largest Win of the Season

The #1-ranked New York University women's basketball team registered its largest win of the season with a 107-31 rout of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) on Sunday, January 26, in Cleveland, OH.

Though the Violets initially trailed 5-2 through the opening minute of the game, a 7-0 run put NYU ahead for the rest of the afternoon. The Spartans managed to stay in striking distance for the entirety of the first quarter, as the Violets took a 17-13 edge heading into the second frame.

With NYU later ahead 25-18 in the second quarter, the Violets outscored CWRU 24-3 over the final six minutes of the frame. In that span, NYU forced nine Spartan turnovers and held them to just 1-of-6 from the field.

CWRU went on to make just five more field goals for the rest of the game and did not make a three-point shot in the second half. The Violets shot an astounding 23-of-37 from the field in the final 20 minutes.

Three of five NYU starters entered double-figures in scoring, led by 18 points from Natalie Bruns on 7-of-9 shooting from the field. Off the bench, Zahra Alexander scored 11 points in just 12 minutes, knocking down all five of her shots from the floor. Overall, 13 of 15 Violets that checked in recorded a basket.

NYU continues its extended road trip on Friday, January 31, against the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL at 7:30 p.m. (CT).
