After defeating Husson University 6-1 on Saturday, the
#10-ranked New York University women's soccer team returned to the pitch on Sunday and blanked host Stevens 1-0 in their second match of the two-day Stevens Engineering Cup.
Rachel Kim scored the only goal of the match on Sunday, connecting just before halftime (42:44). She collected the ball at midfield, dribbled forward and was able to send the shot past Ducks' goalkeeper Kenny Donley.
The Violets' defense was stalwart all afternoon, allowing the Ducks only two shots overall and not a single one on goal.
NYU keeper
Riley Felsher was the beneficiary of the lockdown, recording her third shutout of the young season as the Violets climbed to 2-0-2.
The Violets compiled 13 shots, with eight landing on goal. Kim's tally came on her only shot of the contest, while
Hunter Hoelscher took a team-high four with all but one on goal.
"It was a really good performance by our team," said Head Coach
Scott Waddell. "We spent much of our time attacking, and our defense was organized and executed well."
The Violets return to action on Wednesday, September 11, when they play at Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, NY, at 7:30pm
