The New York University men's soccer team played its second match of the 2024 season on Wednesday night in Riverdale, NY, and came away with a 3-3 draw against host University of Mount Saint Vincent.
The Violets (1-0-1) fell behind 1-0 in the first half, but three consecutive goals within a six-minute span of the second half gave NYU the lead.
Colton Jensen scored his first collegiate goal at 66:32 to tie the score, and
Terra Nagai scored his second of the season at 71:11 to give the Violets their first lead.
NYU's leading scorer so far this season,
Bryce Lexow, tallied his third goal of the season just one minute later (72:12) to double the lead.
However, the Violets could not close it out as the Dolphins rallied for a pair of goals to force the tie.
"We were down at halftime and had a very good response," said Head Coach
Kim Wyant. "But, then we got a bit sloppy. Overall, despite the result, I'm pleased with the performance."
NYU out-shot UMSV 21-16 and edged them 7-6 in shots on goal.
The Violets return to the pitch this Saturday, September 7, when they host Rutgers-Camden at 2:00pm in Newark, NJ.
