The
#18-ranked New York University women's coccer team stayed undefeated with a 1-0 win over Sarah Lawrence College on Monday, September 23, in Newark, NJ, at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Neither team was unable to generate momentum in the first half, as each side registered just one shot on goal.
Nearly 25 minutes into the second half, the Violets began to build pressure on the Gryphons, taking four shots in the span of three minutes.
Kelli Keady's shot from the right side nearly found the back of net, but was saved by Bella Vaca.
In the 84th minute,
Rachel Kim took a short dribble and blasted a shot off of the cross bar and past the keeper for the lone goal of the game. It was Kim's second career goal, both of which have come this season.
NYU allowed just one shot the entire match and out-shot Sarah Lawrence 14-1. Kim,
Hope Neale, and
Riley Mullady each took two shots on the night.
The Violets will remain at home for their next match as they welcome John Jay College to Newark, NJ, on Thursday, September 26, at 7:00pm.
