Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Downed by Penn State Harrisburg

The Violets conceded three goals in the second half for their first loss of the season

The New York University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season in a 3-2 defeat to Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday, September 15, in Harrisburg, PA.

The Violets got off to a quick start, as Bryce Lexow scored his fifth goal of the season just over seven minutes into the game. The goal came after Terra Nagai played a ball to Lexow, whose first-time shot was too powerful for the goalkeeper and trickled into the bottom right corner of the net. With the score, the senior equaled his previous season's goal tally.

Lexow turned scorer to provider for the second goal two minutes later, squaring a pass across the goal for Nagai, who then beat a defender in front of him and slotted a shot into the bottom left corner. It was Nagai's third goal of the season.

Five minutes into the second half, the Lions managed to pull within one following an Alex Afata goal. With 18 minutes remaining in the match, Penn State leveled the score after Kobe Harris found the back of the net. Just over two minutes later, the Violets conceded a third goal, with Brandon Axton scoring for the Nittany Lions.

Goalkeeper Jackson McCloskey faced eight shots on the night and made two saves.

NYU looks to bounce back against Drew University on Saturday, September 21, at home.
