Women's Soccer Completes California Swing

Violets Post Another 0-0 Draw

After playing to a 0-0 deadlock in its opening match of the 2024 season on Friday, the #10-ranked New York University women's soccer team posted another 0-0 draw, this time against host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Colleges on Sunday, September 1, in Claremont, CA.

Violets' goalkeeper Riley Felsher, who totaled a career-high nine saves on Friday against Pomona-Pitzer, was not as challenged on Sunday. She needed to make only two saves in recording her 15th career shutout.

This contest was a defensive struggle from the outset, as NYU recorded seven shots (three on goal) and CMS only managed three (two on goal).

The Violets' best chance at breaking the scoreless deadlock came in the 28th minute, but Maria Nolan's shot was finger-tipped away by Athenas' keeper Sadie Brown.

NYU's other two shots on goal were recorded by Hunter Hoelscher and Izze Ching.

The 0-0-2 Violets return to the pitch on Saturday, September 7, when they face Husson University at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, at 2:00pm.
