The
#10-ranked New York University women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against host #22 Pomona-Pitzer in both teams' 2024 season openers on Friday, August 30, in Claremont, CA.
Despite being out-shot 15-9, the Violets were in good hands as goalkeeper
Riley Felsher recorded a career-high nine saves to keep the Sagehens off the scoreboard.
After making four saves (on six shots) in the first half, Felsher had to work even harder in the second, as Pomona-Pitzer took nine more shots with NYU's fifth-year grad student having to stop five of them.
Felsher has now posted 14 career shutouts.
Patricia DePalma made four saves for the Sagehens.
Hope Neale had a team-high three shots for the Violets, while
Rena Kalargiros had a pair.
The Violets remain out west to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Monday, September 1, beginning at 11:00am (PST).
