Softball Team Falls to Wash U

Violets Lose 11-1

The New York University softball team was defeated by Washington University in St. Louis 11-1 on Sunday, April 7, at Columbia University Stadium in upper Manhattan.

The Violets are now 5-17 and 0-8 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Bears improved to 17-7, 6-2.

Wash U secured this one early, scoring three in the top of the first inning and four more in each of the next two frames.

NYU's only run of the game came in the bottom of the fourth on an infield single by Mia Lemmon.

Jessie Werthman started for the Violets and suffered the loss. Jayna Kramsky and Monique Kamrowski also pitched for NYU.

Six different Violets collected one hit each.

The Violets are back in action next weekend when they host a four-game series against Carnegie Mellon University. The first game is set for 3:00pm on Friday, April 12, at the College of Staten Island.
