The New York University softball team lost both its games to Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday, April 6.
The University Athletic Association (UAA) games were played at the Columbia University Stadium in upper Manhattan.
The Violets (5-16, 0-7) fell to the Bears (16-7, 5-2) by scores of 6-1 and 4-1.
Three NYU errors in the first game and four in the second led to the Violets' downfall.
Karleigh Kluever started the opener and went 4.2 innings. She allowed five runs, but only one was earned.
Jayna Kramsky followed and went the final 2.1, allowing only one unearned run.
The Violets matched the Bears in earned runs....with one, as the Violets lone run came on LIzzy Smith's RBI double in the first. She finished with two of NYU's five hits, with Margaux Lessser also getting two.
In the nitecap, it was starter
Emily Stone who suffered the loss though only allowing one earned run over five innings. She was followed by
Monique Kamrowski, who also allowed only a single earned run.
But, the NYU bats were mostly silent and again only managed one run. That one was driven in on a single by
Chloe Stone, also in the first inning.
Madi Hand and
Nicole Cicchetti had the other two hits the Violets registered in the game.
The two teams complete the four-game series at 11:00am on Sunday.
