New York University's baseball team fell 10-5 to Case Western Reserve University on Sunday, April 21, at the Staten Island University Hospital Community Park in the Violets' final University Athletic Association (UAA) game of the season.
The Spartans led 7-0 after their first two sets of at bats, but NYU got two runs back in the bottom of the second on
Max Oliveira's RBI double and
Joe Cetale's run-scoring groundout.
But, CWRU added two more in the third before
Cam Dunn's RBI double made it 9-3 after three innings.
A lone Spartan run came in the fifth, then NYU scored two in the eighth after an error and Cetale RBI single. However, the comeback stalled there as CWRU took three of four in the weekend series.
Dunn and Cetale recorded two hits apiece to lead the Violets while
Connor Roggero scored twice.
Dylan Branca and
Arvin Chona both pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
NYU is back in action on Friday, April 26, for a doubleheader at RPI in Troy, NY.
