Violets Fall 5-4 at Hobart

The New York University men's tennis team was defeated by Hobart College 5-4 on Saturday, April 13, in Geneva, NY.

NYU dropped two of its three doubles matches, with Jingyuan Chen and Louis Frowein claiming victory over their #2 opponents 8-5.

The Violets managed to regain the lead early in the singles round, winning three matches in a row. Captain Rumaish Khastgir triumphed at #3 7-5, 6-3. Boren Zheng won 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 against his #1 match-up, and Chen continued his winning ways, defeating his opponent at #2 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-3.

However, NYU could not get another win as Hobart won the final three singles contests.

"This is a match that we really wanted, and a couple of points were the difference," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "The team needs to put the loss behind them and get ready for Rochester, another tough opponent."

The Violets will return to action tomorrow, April 14, against the University of Rochester at 2:00pm in Rochester, NY.
