The New York University softball team concluded its four-game weekend series in Cleveland with a 14-2 loss to home-standing Case Western Reserve University on Sunday, March 31, in Ohio.
The Violets are now 5-13 overall and 0-4 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).
The Spartans,
ranked #7 in the nation, improves to 19-2, 4-0.
On Sunday, Case Western Reserve scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but the Violets quickly caught up with two in the top of the second.
Emma Aridi led off the inning with single. She stole second and wound up coming around to score on a single by
Lily Candelaria.
A two-out walk to
Nicole Cicchetti followed by a single from
Lizzy Smith knotted the game at 2-2.
But, that was it for the Violets' offense as the Spartans did the rest of the scoring.
Karleigh Kluever (3-5) suffered the loss for NYU.
The Violets will be back in action this Wednesday, April 3, playing a doubleheader against Manhattanvile College in Purchase, NY. First game is set to begin at 3:00pm.
