The New York University softball team dropped the first game of its Spring Break trip, 4-1, to the University of Lynchburg on Saturday, March 16, in Salisbury, MD,
The Violets (1-2) had not played since March 1 due to various weather cancelations and postponements.
Marina Egbert started for NYU on Saturday, going six innings and allowing three earned runs while striking out three.
Lynchburg scored single runs in the first and third innings, and plated two in the fifth.
NYU averted the shutout in the bottom of the seventh.
Alyssa Quary led off with a double.
Lily Candelaria pinch ran, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Alexa Very and scored on
Emma Aridi's fielder's choice.
Lindsey Baron had a pair of hits for the Violets, including a double.
The Violets next face King's College, also on Saturday.
