Men's Basketball Edges Farmingdale State

Violets Improve to 5-0

In its third consecutive road game, the New York University men's basketball team outlasted Farmingdale State College, 70-61, on Tuesday, November 26, in Farmingdale, NY.

The Violets led for the entire tilt, getting out to an 18-9 advantage just over eight minutes into the contest. NYU knocked down four three-pointers in that span, including two from Chuma Oyigbo

After the Rams cut the deficit to three, down 21-18, an 11-4 run by the Violets put NYU ahead by 10 with less than five minutes until halftime. The Violets led by as much as 11 in the half, but an 8-1 Farmingdale run in the final minute made it a 40-36 game at the break.

Just over a minute into the second half, a Rams three-pointer closed the gap to one. With NYU later up 51-49, the Violets outscored Farmingdale 15-2 over the next six minutes to take a 15-point advantage.

Though the Rams got back to within seven with under four minutes remaining, down 68-61, they were held scoreless for the rest of the night as NYU closed out a nine-point win.

Tristan How shot 9-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, for 21 points. Zay Freeney and Emmanuel Onuama each posted eight rebounds, with the former adding three steals and the latter recording three blocks.

The Violets will now return home to face Marywood University on Tuesday, December 3, at 7:00pm at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
