The New York University women's basketball team improved to 5-0 with a 90-56 win over Colby College on Sunday, November 24, at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
The Violets raced out to an 11-point advantage in the first quarter, highlighted by six points from
Natalie Bruns.
The Mules hung tough, however, lowering the deficit to 10 with just over three minutes remaining until halftime. Colby then went scoreless for the remainder of the second quarter, while
Belle Pellecchia scored four points in that span to put NYU up 38-24 at the break.
A 7-0 run by the Violets just over a minute into the second half put NYU ahead by 21, 47-26.
With the Mules unable to close the gap to less than 18 for the remainder of the game, the Violets went on to comfortably close out their fifth win of the season.
Pellecchia and Bruns each recorded 20-point games, with the former adding a game-high nine rebounds.
Following a nearly two-week long break, NYU will return to the court on Friday, December 6, to take on SUNY Cobleskill at 5:30pm at the Paulson Center.
