The New York University women's basketball team played its first road game of the 2024-25 season, traveling to Kings Point, NY, to take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday, November 17.
The location was different, but the results remained the same as the Violets (4-0) defeated the Mariners (1-1) 96-65.
In their toughest game of the year thus far, the Violets only led by four before
Mary Kate Fahey's three-pointer with just seconds left in opening quarter gave NYU a 25-18 advantage after the first 10 minutes.
The Violets got untracked in the second quarter, extending its lead to 50-31 at halftime.
Belle Pellecchia (14) and
Brooke Batchelor (13) each reached double-figure scoring at the break, while Fahey had eight.
NYU's advantage expanded by seven points, 71-45 after the third quarter, and reached a peak of 36 midway through the fourth.
Batchelor led the way with a career-high 17 points, while both Pellecchia and Fahey (also a career high) ended up with 16.
The Violets, who have now won 35 straight games, return to action to take on the Colby College Mules on Sunday, November 24, at 2:00pm inside the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan, NY.
