The
#15-ranked New York University women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against #23 Emory University in a University Athletic Association (UAA) match-up on Sunday, October 27, at Lubetkin Field in Newark, NJ.
The host Violets (9-2-5, 1-2-2) celebrated Senior Day on Sunday, with 11 players taking part in the final regular-season home match of their NYU careers.
A pre-game ceremony for the players and their families was held prior to the start of the match.
"It was very special to honor them today," said Head Coach
Scott Waddell. "They have put their hearts and souls into the program, and we appreciate that."
Sunday's game was evenly matched between the two ranked teams, and the statistics prove that out. Each team took eight shots, with Emory landing four on goal.
The Violets'
Riley Felsher, one of the pre-game honorees, stopped all four shots she faced to record her eighth shutout of the season.
Also celebrated on Senior Day were
Bryce Chan,
Maria Nolan,
Brooke Buonomo,
Summer Steadman,
Hope Neale,
Isa Badillo,
Jessica Tonthat,
Riley Mullady,
Izze Ching, and
Rachel Kim.
"It was a good performance by our team today," Waddell added. "We started off slowly, but picked it up in the second half and played much better."
The Violets return to action next Sunday, November 3, when they face Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, starting at 11:00am.
