Women's Soccer Edged by Rochester

Violets Drop 2-1 Decision.

The New York University women's soccer team fell 2-1 to the University of Rochester in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest on Friday, October 25, in Newark, NJ.

The #15-ranked Violets rallied from a 1-0 deficit to tie the match against the #25 Yellowjackets, but allowed another goal just five minutes later in suffering their second straight defeat.

Rochester took the lead soon after kickoff, as Maya Bravo scored for the visitors just 4:21 into the contest.

The score remained 1-0 into the second half, but NYU's Kelli Keady evened the score at 46:05, settling the ball into the lower left corner of the net off an assist from Jessica Tonthat.

The deadlock did not remain for long as Riya Kunderan broke the tie on an assist from Bravo at 51:39.

The Violets continued to pepper the net, but could not secure the equalizer.

NYU out-shot Rochester 20-4 (8-3 on net), but Yellowjackets' keeper Grace Kuropatkin's seven saves proved to be the difference.

Keady registered six of the Violets' shots, with five landing on goal. Riley Mullady recorded three shots.

The Violets are right back in action on Sunday for a 12:00pm match against Emory University back at Lubetkin Field in Newark. It will be NYU's last home match of the season, and the team will celebrate Senior Day
