The New York University men's soccer team recorded its first University Athletic Association (UAA) win of the season, defeating the University of Rochester 1-0 on Friday, October 25, at Lubetkin Field in Newark, NJ.
Ahmed Ibrahim scored the game's only goal as NYU (6-3-3, 1-2-1) snapped a three-match win-less streak.
"The team had an excellent response to a couple of disappointing dropped games," Head Coach
Kim Wyant said. "The UAA is a brutal conference, so getting a win is always very positive."
Ibrahim's goal at 57:01 was sent into the lower right corner of the net off an assist from
Bryce Lexow.
The NYU offense was aggressive throughout, as they doubled the Yellowjackets (8-3-3, 2-1-1) in shots 18-9 and led 7-2 on goal.
Jack McCloskey recorded the shutout for the Violets, rejecting both shots he faced.
Ibrahim took a team-high five shots for NYU, while Lexow added four.
"We had an excellent week of preparation and practice," Wyant added. "The team showed a very, very strong mentality tonight, which is what I'm most proud of."
The Violets are back in action on Sunday when they host Emory University in another UAA contest. The Senior Day match will kickoff at 2:15pm back in Newark.
