The #17-ranked New York University women's soccer team defeated Mount St. Mary College 4-0 on Wednesday, October 16 in a home match at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, NJ. 

The Violets, now 9-0-4, also broke a program record for most shots recorded in a match with 47, including 20 on target. Goalkeeper Riley Felsher recorded an eighth shutout of the year in the first half, while Mia Capo was subbed on at the start of the second half. Demetra Sideridis got her first minutes as a Violet in goal with 15 minutes left to play.

It was all NYU in the first half, taking 15 shots before the breakthrough came in the 34th minute. Carmen Cicerini played a through ball for Izze Ching, who buried the shot from seven yards out. Ching later got her second of the match by collecting a loose ball from just outside the six-yard box and spinning free off of her defender, giving her time to shoot into the top left corner.

The Violets continued their first-half domination when Ching played a neat pass through the Knights' defensive line for Maylin Carr to slip under the Knights' goalkeeper with two minutes left until the break.

The fourth goal came in the 57th minute, as the Violets kept the pressure on the Knights' defense. Rena Kalargiros slotted a ball for Kelli Keady on the right wing, who then beat her defender before sliding it under the diving goalkeeper's arm. 

NYU kept the Knights to just four shots and three on target the whole night. The three Violet goalkeepers combined for three saves.

The Violets will next travel to St. Louis, MO, as they return to University Athletic Association play to face Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday, October 19. Kickoff is set for 11am.
