Men's Soccer Draws at Stevens

Lexow equalizes in 62nd minute to avoid defeat

New York University's men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at the Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday night in Hoboken, NJ.

It was the second draw of the season for the Violets, who now hold a 1-4-2 record after seven outings, and the first between the two sides since September 2008.

Junior forward Bryce Lexow was NYU's goalscorer as he netted his second of the year in the 62nd minute with left back Joss Cohen providing the assist. It was Lexow's 12th collegiate goal and the second assist of Cohen's career.

Lexow equalized after Stevens netted the game's first goal in the 50th when Adam Berrocal found the back of the net off a feed from Luca Campbell.

The first half was scoreless despite the Ducks controlling possession and recording seven shots as opposed to NYU's three in the opening 45 minutes.

Lexow had two of the Violets' three shots on goal on the night with Eric Smits producing the other. Chaz Bond got the nod between the posts for NYU and delivered three saves to maintain the draw.

The Violets return to action on Saturday, September 23, taking on DeSales University in Center Valley, PA at 2:30 p.m.
