The New York University women's soccer team secured a 3-0 win on the road against St. Joseph's University Long Island on Sunday, September 17, in Patchogue, NY.
All three Violet goals occurred in the first eight minutes of the match.
The 5-0 Violets, ranked #23 in the nation, have yet to allow a goal this season. They have outscored their opponents 20-0 and out-shot them 128-16.
"I'm stoked for the team to record another win and clean sheet," said Head Coach Scott Waddell. "We spoke about how important it is to take one day and one game at a time and the group came out with intensity and got the job done."
Makenzie Rodrigues scored the first goal unassisted at 3:57.
Gabriella Funk scored the second at 6:01 on an assist from Riley Mullady.
Rodrigues finished her brace with a goal at 7:35 set up by Dominique Bevacqua.
The Violets out-shot the Eagles 21-0 and recorded 10 corner kicks while St. Joseph's had one.
St. Joseph's goalkeeper Alana Downey made nine saves during the match.
"We have a quick turnaround to face William Paterson on Wednesday so we will enjoy the win but back to work tomorrow," Waddell added.
NYU returns home to take on William Paterson University on Wednesday, September 20, in Newark, NJ.
