The New York University women's tennis team triumphed 8-1 over New Jersey City University at home at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY, on Sunday, March 5. The Violets remain unbeaten this spring with a 3-0 record.
The competition started with a fierce contest at #2 doubles as
Molly Heber and
Karina Jensrud fell in 15 games 8-7 (2) to NJCU's Giada Zorzan and Sophia Jurina. However, NYU's #1 doubles team of
Ida Krause/
Dakota Fordham and #3 doubles team of
Jimena Menendez/
Anastasiia Balyk rallied to win 8-2 and 8-0, respectively.
Continuing into the singles rounds, NYU's deep roster came together to win all six matches.
"I'm proud of the way we played today," Assistant Coach
Eric Halpern commented. "We showed our depth in singles and I'm looking forward to a big week of practice before we play again next Saturday."
The Violets will return with a pair of matches on Saturday, March 11, when they play William Smith College at 12:00pm and Endicott College at 6:30pm.
